Support for Parents and Caregivers

Raising children is one of the hardest yet most important jobs. Parental stress is so widespread that the U.S. Surgeon General has declared it a significant public health issue. With so much conflicting information around parenting, it can be difficult to know how to best support your child. I offer practical strategies grounded in research to address your parenting concerns, reduce parental stress, and boost your confidence navigating the tricky moments of family life. My goal is to help you parent in a way that feels good to you and your child—one that both aligns with your values and supports the healthy development of your child.

Common reasons for seeking support

  • Screen time and social media: how to introduce, create boundaries,

and promote healthy use of technology with your child

  • Bullying: how to support your child through challenging peer relationships

  • Transitions: how to support your child with moving, divorce, starting school, a loss in the family, and the birth of a sibling

  • Sensitive topics: how to talk with your child about death, divorce,

    consent, sex, and sexuality

  • Discipline: how to apply effective, connection-building discipline strategies

  • Repair: how to reconnect after a rupture or difficult moment with your child

  • Support: how to manage parental stress, overwhelm, guilt, and shame

What to Expect

  • During our first appointment, we will discuss your reasons for seeking support, goals, family’s background and history, and any questions you have. I may also use standardized questionnaires to inform treatment.

After this initial appointment, I will share feedback and we will collaboratively create an individually-tailored treatment plan targeting your goals.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes and are typically weekly or bi-weekly, and varies from family to family. Please refer to the "About" section for the evidence-based treatments I use in therapy.
