Education & Experience

I have specialized experience supporting parents and children with emotional, behavioral, social, and developmental concerns and medical diagnoses. With a background in both child and perinatal psychology, my work reflects the continuum of mental health across generations. While working with children during my doctoral training, I witnessed the lack of mental health support for new and expecting parents and the ways in which supporting a parent improved the well-being of the entire family. This led me to complete a postdoctoral fellowship specializing in perinatal mental health at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC where I provided assessment and therapy for parents and their infants receiving services in the NICU, cardiac ICU, and prenatal/fetal speciality clinics. I take a strengths-based approach towards equipping parents with tools to support their well-being, regardless of the pregnancy outcome or reproductive event. I am also a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C).

Therapeutic Approach

My approach to therapy is guided by:

  • You are the expert on you and your family. I partner with you by understanding your unique needs, goals, and values. From here, I individualize treatment to be tailored to you while staying within the framework of evidence-based practice. I enjoy empowering parents with tools that improve their own mental health in addition to working with children to support their emotional well-being and healthy development.

  • My goal is to create an environment where you and your child feel heard, supported, and understood. Parenting is one of the hardest, most important jobs yet parents are often not given resources to show up as the parents they strive to be. My practice aims to change that.

  • I use evidence-based treatment modalities demonstrated through research to be effective. In addition, throughout treatment, I use data to demonstrate progress towards your goals and inform whether adjustments are warranted. While grounded in evidence-based practice, I hold each individual and family at the forefront, personalizing treatment to your needs and values.

The evidence-based treatments I use include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Parent Management Training (PMT)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
